Our History

History

Golden Star Rice Mill (GSR) was established in 1980 as a traditional family rice mill, serving the local area. Until 1999, the mill primarily catered to local needs. In that year, the ownership and management were passed on to the founder's daughter and her husband. Under their leadership, GSR evolved into a professional Cambodian rice mill and exporter. While continuing to serve the local market, we began exporting premium-quality Cambodian rice to international markets in 2005.

Our factory and head office are strategically located at the heart of four of Battambang province's prime paddy rice-growing districts: Tmorkol, Ek Phnom, Banan, and Sangke. This location in Cambodia ensures that the best raw materials are readily available to us each season.

We adhere strictly to both Cambodian rice export regulations and international standards. From the "paddy in fields" to the "rice in markets," we ensure meticulous selection, procurement, processing, and certification.

Production and Storage

Our rice milling and processing plant is fully automated and equipped mostly with machines from Buhler group, process with modern system/technology with high responses to health, social, and environmental patterns, whose annual production capacity is more than 90,000 tons of rice.

With our 60 skilled labors and 3 shift factory runs, we can produce more than 50 tons of milled rice per hour. Our production strength is rooted from our strategic location which is convenient for our team to collaborate constantly and closely with local farmers and paddy collectors to select the best raw materials for our production.

Packing

We offer a versatile packing range to meet our clients' needs, packaging our rice in units ranging from 0.5kg to 24 tons. Our packaging options include containers, jumbo bags, PP bags, laminated bags (BOPP), PE bags, and vacuum bags.

Golden Star Rice Mill takes great pride in the recognition our Cambodian Jasmine Phka Malis rice has received. It was honored as the World’s Best Rice for three consecutive years: in 2012 (at the Bali TRT), 2013 (at the Hong Kong TR), and 2014 (at the Phnom Penh TRT).
